Background

I managed to get my MK2 dash into my Mk1 now still have to get the demister to work and the final wires to the trip computer.

Solution

I made some small brackets no longer than 2cm long with a 3/16" drill drilled into at one end so it to be screwed to the dashboard. The right hand plate should be poited towards the left so should the centre one. The left hand one needs pointing to the right with the tab stick9ing out in this direction. With theses positioned and the dashboard in place I could use a pencil to mark the hole for the surround screw onto the little bracket. This should be slightly smaller than the screw. The hole job took no more than two hours. And the dash is rock solid.

This worked for me so cannot say it will for you so check it our first.
