Ford Model: | Mondeo |

Petrol/Diesel: | ??? |
Estimated Cost: | ??? |
Difficulty? | ??? |
How long does this take? | ??? |
Suitable for Mk1 or Mk2 Mondeo.
Items Required
1 pair focus st170 brake discs
1 pair mondeo mk3 brake calipers
1 set mondeo mk3 brake pads
1 set of stainless steel braided brake hoses
(optional)
brake fluid.
jack up the car and support on a pair of axle stands and remove wheels.
remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and place cling film over the opening and replace cap to reduce fluid loss.
undo the metal brake pipe / rubber hose coupling, remove the circlip from wheel arch bracket and grommet from suspension leg.
undo and remove the caliper bolts 15mm and remove caliper complete with rubber hose and pads, remove rubber hose if not fitting braided ones.
remove the washers holding the discs to the hub and remove disc.
here you can see the difference in size
clean hub face of any debris and apply copperslip to the hub face.
fit new disc and screw washers back on.
fit braided hose or rubber hose to the mk3 caliper, then put the 15mm bolts through hole of the carrier bracket then fit 3mm spacers to the ends of the bolts and fit caliper into place and tighten bolts.
next remove the top slider bolt, 13mm,and loosen the lower one and rotate the slider away from the disc. ensure the piston is right back and then fit pads. roll the slider into position and refit the top bolt and tighten both bolts up.
locate the top of the braided hose /rubber hose back through the bracket on wheel arch and attatch to the metal brake pipe and refit circlip refit grommet into bracket on the suspension leg.
remove clingfilm from the brake fluid reservoir and top up with new fluid and bleed the brakes.(this would be a good opportunity to change the fluid in the system if it hasn't been done for a couple of years. you'll have to bleed the rears too if you do) refit wheels and away you go. remember to take it easy for the first couple of hundred miles while the brakes bed in and then reach optimum efficiency.
job done.
