Trip Computer Software Releases - Mk2
This is a guide of trip computer software versions and the approximate year of the car that they belong to. There are some overlaps in some of the dates, but this is a guide.
Major software versions - 'Rel 1' encompasses versions 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc.
Rel 1 = 1996 P
Rel 2 = 1997 R
Rel 3 = 1998 S
Rel 4 = 1999 T\V
Rel 5 = 2000 > 2001 W\X\Y
Note: Ford produced a revised fuel sender in 1999 (fitted to all Mondeos from '99 onwards) and the way the Rel 4 & 5 trip computers read them.
There is a revision to the 1999 onwards trip computer plug wires and they are as follows
Fuel remaining is on pin 7 rd/wh instead of pin 8 wh/bk. Pin 15 requires a 12v live feed (looped to pin 3 or 12)
