Model History - Mk1

01/03/1993

Front drive Saloons and Hatchbacks: 1.6i 16v LX, GLX; 1.8i 16v LX and GLX ; 2.0i 16v GLX, Si and Ghia. ABS on 2.0i Si and Ghia (option on others).

All have alarm, airbag, tinted glass, adjustable steering column. LX also has sunroof,; GLX has upgraded trim, lumbar adjustment on front seats, elec height adjustment on driver's seat, rear centre armrest; Ghia has alloys, air con, heated windscreen, front fog lamps, elec rear windows; Si has uprated suspension, rear spoiler, front sports seats.

01/06/1993

Estates launched with modified independent rear suspension.

01/08/1993

1.8 TD (88 bhp turbo-diesel) models launched.

01/04/1994

Special 1.6i Aspen Hatchback Estate, 1.8i Mistral, and 1.8i Ultima Hatchback and Estate.

Used values: Aspen as 1.6i LX; Mistral approx. 5% higher than 1.8i LX; Ultima slightly lower than 1.8i Ghia.

01/09/1994

2.5 24v and 2.5 24v Ghia launched: ABS, traction control. Sunroof, sports front seats, 15" wheels.

Ghia also has remote locking, alloys, air con, sunroof and elec rear windows, heated windscreen, front fog lamps.

01/03/1995

2.0i Si 4x4 and Ghia 4x4: electronic traction control, ABS.

1.6 and 1.8 TD Aspen: PAS, central locking, alarm, airbag.

2.5 24v Estate launched: ABS, traction control, elec front windows, self levelling suspension.

Revisions: GLX models have ABS.

Special Verona 1.8i and 1.8 TD.

Used values similar to LX models. Ghia X 1.8 TD, 2.0i, 2.0i 4x4 and 2.5i 24 launched. 2.0i Si and 2.0i 4x4 Si Estates launched.

2.5i 24v Si models launched. Ghia models no longer have standard air conditioning.
