1.1 Front and Rear Position Lamps


Information Method of Inspection Reason for rejection
This inspection applies to: all machines, except those which have neither front nor rear position lamps, or have such lamps permanently disconnected, painted over or masked that are only used during daylight hours, and not used at times of seriously reduced visibility. If this situation occurs the machine presenter should be issued with a VT32 (advisory notice) recording the above. 1.   • Check Seat Belts Push in ok and Lock When you Pull the Belt
  • Check Condition of Belt i.e. NO Splits
  • Check Tyres for Wear
  • Inner/Outer Edges Slight Wear Might be ok
  • Check C/V Boots Inner/Outer
  • Steering Rack Boots
  • Check Pads and Discs for Bad Wear
  • Bonnet Opens
  • Exhaust Does not have a Bad Blow and Excess Corrosion
  • Check Door Mirrors as a Distorted Drives Side one will Fail the MOT
  • Seat Belt Stalk Trim (no kidding, just glued the thing on and it's been fine since)
  • Excess Corrosion on Brake Lines
  • Brake Hoses Rubbing on Tyres (turn the wheel to full lock both ways to check)
  • Excess Corrosion on Power Steering Lines (especially cooler lines)
  • Pedal Rubbers
  • Roll Bar Bushings
  • Rear Roll Bar Bushing Links on the Mk 1's
  • Tie Rod Ends (inner as well, in the rack, shake the steering back and forth and check for movement)
  • Check Ball Joints for Play
