Touchscreen Sat Nav Information

This information is meant to be a guide ONLY! There are some sections of the Diagnostic routine that allow the user to delete the firmware on the DVD ROM or to load a program, therefore please read EVERYTHING carefully before you proceed.

The Denso Touchscreen Sat Nav - Mondeo, Focus & S Max

There are only a few sites on the web that offer any kind of information relating to the Ford Touchscreen Sat Nav. It was introduced in July 2003 as a hi end option on most of the Mondeo, Focus and Galaxy Range. Information on it is sketchy at best, not a lot of dealers know anything about it which is also worrying if anything ever goes wrong.

There are some basic checks that you can do from home before an expensive trip to the dealer, but there are some risks involved. My best advice is DO NOT let your finger decide what to do, use your head and you wont erase all the data the system needs to boot up when you push the 'ON@ button.

I've rated some of the options on a scale from safe to very bad.

How do i access the Diagnostics?

Turn on the Ignition, power up the headunit and press the NAV button. Accept the warning. You should now be looking at a map screen. Press and hold the MENU button until you have a code entry screen appear.

Type in 842 520 then press enter.

Other Information

Press and hold the MENU button for 10 seconds until the unit beeps and displays the CODE ENTRY screen.

Type in 6414 and ENTER.

Gives you diagnostic functions for this unit.

IMPORTANT NOTE

DO NOT SELECT SOFTWARE UPDATE. I did this and froze the unit, need to goto Ford now to get them to sort it.

Hope this may be of use to some people
