Required parts
Facelift
- Mirrors with powerfold & puddle lights.
- Powerfold relay.
- Adjustment switch with powerfold position.
Pre-facelift
As above plus:
- Both front door wiring looms from a facelift mondeo.
- Interior front door plug from a scrapped mondeo for wires & connectors.
Check below the glovebox fusebox for the brown relay holder. If no brown relay holder is in place then you will need the following too:
- Brown relay holder with wires.
- Fusebox plug & wiring.
- An additional 5 wires & connectors for the door plug.
Fitting
Facelift
- Remove door card
- Remove old mirror switch from wiring & plastic surround
- Refit new switch to plastic cover & plug into the door loom
- Unplug mirror wiring
- Remove 3 Torx screws for the mirror (remember to support the mirror on the outside when removing the last screw or risk seven years' bad luck)
- Fit new mirror unit
- Refit door card
- Repeat for the other door
- Remove glovebox
- Insert the relay
- Refit the glovebox
Pre-facelift
- Remove door card
- Partially remove the foam weather seal
- Uncouple door loom from car
- Uncouple door lock mechanism & window motor.
- Remove wiring from the door
- Refit facelift door loom into the door
- Plug window motor & door lock unit back in
- Refit (re-seal if required) the inner weather seal
- Remove old mirror switch from wiring & plastic surround
- Fit new switch to plastic cover & plug into the door loom
- Unplug mirror wiring
- Remove 3 Torx screws for the mirror (remember to support the mirror on the outside when removing the last screw or risk seven years' bad luck)
- Fit new mirror unit
- Refit door card
- Repeat for the other door
- Remove glovebox
- Insert the relay
- Refit the glovebox
- Add puddle light wiring to the interior of the door plug in the pin locations found below.
If you need to wire in the powerfold relay holder then you will need the following info:
Connector locations
C54 = drivers side upper door plug.
C52 = passenger side door plug.
C506 = on the rear of the fusebox, top plug nearest the door on the back.
Powerfold relay holder
- Pin 1 - C54 pin 6 & C52 pin 10 (powerfold)
- Pin 2 - C54 pin 10 (switch)
- Pin 3 - C54 pin 7 & C52 pin 1 (powerfold)
- Pin 4 - C506 pin 12 (power feed)
- Pin 5 - ground
Puddle light wiring
Feeds taken from the front footwell lights are easiest, to:
- Driver's side = C54 pin 12 & pin 13
- Passenger side = C52 pin 6 & pin 7
