How to tighten a Mk 2 Drivers Airbag

Tools Needed:

Torx 30 screwdriver (or some may require a Torx 25)

Procedure for tightening drivers airbag

The drivers airbag is held on with 2 torx screws each side of the steering wheel in the center at the back of the wheel. Don't touch the outer holes on the steering wheel as these don't hold the airbag. Also their is no need to disconnect the battery, as it is quite safe to tighten the airbag, or just leave the car 15 - 20 mins and the airbag will disarm if you want extra safety.

Adjust the Steering wheel column so that it is slid out towards you

Turn the Steering wheel 90 degrees, so that the if you look on the back of the steering wheel, you can see the hole in the middle of the back of the steering wheel just slightly above the hazzard warning light switch.

Then insert Torx screw driver into the hole and tighten up the screws by tightening towards the passenger side door. This will then stop the airbag rattling and no need to remove the plastic around the column.
