Changing Spark Plugs With UIM In Place

I've noticed this keeps coming up in the V6 section so i've decided to write a Howto on it pictures to follow. If you use the right tools is a simple task which should take 15 mins max

Parts

• Decent spark plug socket
• 3/8 wobble extention bar (about 3" or 4" should do it)
• 8mm spark plug socket
• Feeler gauge
• Rachet

Procedure

• Set your spark plugs up to 1.3mm with the feeler gauge

• Start with the rear ones. First pull the HT leads off one at a time so you know which one goes where. It's cramped back there, so if you can't reach gently pull the lead with a pair of pliers - but don't grip it too hard because it's likly to damage the lead... For the one closest the coil pack unpluging it from the coil pack first may also help.

• Put your socket on your extention but leave the rachet off

• Lower the Socket and ext down the hole to the spark plug and make sure the socket meets the plug straight then connect your rachet to the ext.

• Gently unscrew the plug making sure the you keep it in alignment (other wise you stand a risk of breaking the porcelain top of the plug and you'll end up fishing )

• Refit the new plug giving it a few turn anticlock wise to make sure its not cross threaded, then tighting it up to tight and quater of a turn or 25 NM

• Contining in the same manner for the rear ones replace the HT Leads and Remove the 8mm bolts on black cover on the front bank.

• Replace front plugs - easy enough since you've got no access problems. You might have to remove the 4 8mm bolts securing the IMRC

• Reconnect HT leads and double check everything's back in place and secure

• Start here up and make sure there are no misfires or slugishness
