The Ford Focus has been Britain's best-selling new car every year since 1999, and the second generation model (on sale since the end of 2004) has just strengthened its position.

First step, using a small pick tool or flat head screwdriver, prize this small plastic cover away to reveal a cross-head screw. Remove this screw.

Now there are 6 screws holding the main panel in place, 2 on the outside, 2 underneath and 2 on the inside.

Now carefully pull out this section, opening the door handle may help. Also, if need be the electric window button will pull forward out of it's position to allow more manoeuvrability.

Once done, disconnect the electric window switch from the back.

Next, remove the handle cover. This can be done using a small hole in the rear of the handle about half way down and pushing a small tool through.

Removing this panel reveals 2 more screws to be removed.

Next remove the panel covering the mirror, this can be done by squeezing slightly the side facing the car until it pops out of place. The panel can be left hanging by the mirror control wire (electric mirrors probably should be disconnected).
