Revised range with oval grille, curved headlamps, white indicator lenses, revised suspension, new 1.6 economy engine, improved gearchange, more rear legroom, revised fascia, steering column audio controls, high level rear brake light, immobiliser, double locking.

LX has black bodyside mouldings, uprated RDS audio. GLX has heated mirrors.

Si and Ghia have front foglamps, body colour mouldings and mirrors.

Si also has uprated sports suspension.

Ghia X also has 6 spoke alloys.

01/02/1997

2.5 V6 ST-24: equipment similar to Si plus 16in alloys, body colour rear spoiler, traction control, elec sunroof, air-con.

Special 1.8i Verona reintroduced.

Used values slightly higher than 1.8i LX Hatchback.

Revisions: air-con in place of sunroof on Ghia V6 and Si V6 models, 16in 12 spoke alloys on Si V6.

01/01/1998

Revisions: all models except Aspen and Verona have air-con (in place of sunroof on LX, GLX and Si; in addition to Ghia fitment), CD player, Quickclear windscreen.

Ghia X has passenger airbag, 16in alloy wheels.

Special 1.8i and 1.8TD Verona reintroduced.

Used values slightly higher than LX Hatchbacks.

Zetec 1.8 and 2.0 now with mesh grille, rear spoiler, 5 spoke alloys, front foglamps, metallic paint.

2.5 V6 ST-200: equipment similar to ST-24 plus 17in alloys, uprated front suspension setup, blue instrument dials and special Ford Racing Blue paintwork.
