Mk1 Front Bumper Removal With AirCon
1. Remove undertray (if present)
2. There are only 4 nuts to undo but the AirCon pipes are everywhere! Plus, you have to use deep sockets to compensate for the long thread. a) For the drivers side I undid the bottom nut first so got under the car and I did this by feeding the socket and extensions to the nut from behind the subframe, get it tight on the nut and then holding it all in place whilst fitting my ratchet on the end and undo. b) Then for the drivers side top nut I worked from the engine bay. Stick your hand down from by the slam panel and feel around for the nut. Stick your socket and a little extension.on and hold it in place whilst attaching the ratchet and undo. c) Passenger side top and bottom bolts are reached easiest from underneath the car, they are not as tricky as the drivers side.
3. Bumper will now be loose and you can move it around, undo any little screws holding the wheel arch liners to the bumper, and you can now pull the bumper forwards and off.
4. Upon re-fitment, dont bother refitting all 4 nuts, 2 or 3 will be enough, just make sure they are tight so the bumper doesnt rattle and squeek when going over bumps.
