Fuel Filter Replacement (Mondeo Mk1/Mk2 V6)

before starting the job make sure u have a new big jubilee clip, and a fuel filter, to determine what size u want in the jubilee clip, take your fuel filter to the auto stores, and get a clip a bit bigger than the diameter of the clip,

now check the fuse box in the passenger side footwell, and pull the fuel pump fuse, check your Haynes manual to see which one it is as I cant remember off by memory, start the car and let it run till it dies, try to start it again, it might start and die again, it will come to a point where it will try to turn over but nothing happening, stop, turn off the keys and leave the fuse out for now...

jack the car up at the rear of the car, on the drivers side, support the car with a jack so its safely resting on the jack stands,

now u will see the fuel filter just right in front of the rear wheel, it will most likely have a clamp on this, get your long nose pliers and pull on the end tap to open the clip, or remove the clip what ever is fitted, the fuel filter will hang down, disconnect the ends of the fuel filter, have a rag ready and wear rubber inspection gloves again as fuel will most likely discharge when u let the hose out, and remove the old fuel filter from the car, replace the filter with the new one, making sure the ARROW on the fuel filter body is pointing towards the front of the car (engine way) as this is the correct way to fit it, make sure the connectors are on there tightly and then get your new jubilee clip and rehang the fuel filter to the car body, u will see the bracket the old clip was hanging from, a jubilee clip is easier to take off and tighten,

lower the car, go back to the fuse box, replace the fuel pump fuse and then turn the key just before the engine is going to start and turn off, your letting the fuel pump prime, do it about 10 times just to be sure, then try to start the car, if the car starts, well done, if not, try again it might just need a bit more priming before the fuel gets fully into the lines, while the car is running, get down to the fuel filter location and have a look to see if any fuel is spilling, if there is, stop the car and investigate to what’s leaking, if its not then its another serviceable item ticked off your list
